Rollinias are grown on trees and do best in warm tropical conditions, which is why this fruit is a favorite in Hawaii. The fruits are picked when they start to turn yellow and continue to ripen.

Rollinia makes it easy to eat those 5-9 servings of fruits and veggies a day. It has more protein in it than almost any other kind of fruit. It is also an excellent source of calcium, phosphorous, iron and vitamin C.

It is in large shape, rounded structure, and covered in pointy protuberant cores belonging to the family Annonaceae. Rollinia fruit is usually consumed fresh, but it can also be used to make juices, milkshakes, ice cream and wine.

The fruit is an invaluable source of Vitamin C and essential minerals such as potassium, phosphorous, magnesium or calcium. Rollinia is highly prized and is even used for wine making in some areas of Brazil.

In folk medicine the fruit is used as a cooling and soothing agent to relieve fevers and internal irritations.

The fruit pulp is very soft and sweet, tasting somewhat like a lemon meringue pie. Some reports of the flavour are extremely favourable, others more moderate.
