Strangler Fig

Strangler fig is the common name given to some tropical and subtropical plant species. It included some banyans and unrelated vines.

Figs are one of the most important plant species of the rain-forest ecosystem.

There are almost 1,000 different species of Ficus, which can be, found in virtually all significant rainforest, tropical continent and islands around the world.

There is a suggestion that strangler figs are attractive additions to large yards.

They can get about 150 feet tall in their native range and cultivation, the trees generally grow about 30 feet tall, depending on the type of species.

The question has been, asked whether strangler figs are edible.

There are several species of the strangler fig, and they all belong to the genus Ficus, it is the same as the tree producing edible figs.

However, unlike the fig tree producing edible figs, which has large leaves shaped like mittens, strangler figs have simple leaves with smooth margins.

Most strangler fig fruits are so small they are about the size of peas or marbles and bitter that humans don’t bother to eat them.
