The Health Benefits of Devil’s Claw Tea

Devil’s claw has been used for its tea for centuries; it has a lot of anti-arthritic properties and offers a cure for arthritis and rheumatism.

The benefits of devil’s claw tea were recognized during the early 20th century, it was later introduced in Europe where it was used to aid digestion.

There was a belief that the bitterness in the tea would help in stimulating the digestive juices, the root from which the tea is made contains calcium, aluminium, chlorogenic acid, luteolin, kaempferol, chromium, magnesium, oleanolic acid, tin, selenium, and zinc.

Devil’s Claw roots are traditionally used for various conditions: liver disease, kidney disease, bladder disease, allergies, arteriosclerosis, gastrointestinal disturbances, menstrual difficulties, neuralgia, headache, fevers, indigestion, and nicotine poisoning.

To achieve the many benefits of devil’s claw tea put a teaspoonful of dried and chopped devil’s claw roots into a teapot and pour two cups of boiling water.

Let it stand for some time till the roots are completely soaked for about twenty minutes.

Now strain the tea and allow it to cool before drinking. You may consume around 3 cups of tea per day.

While only indigestion and a few side effects of devil’s claw have emerged in studies so far, its use has not been studied for pregnant or breastfeeding women and risks are unknown for them as well as for those who suffer from peptic ulcer disease (PUD), ulcers, heart problems, high or low blood pressure, or diabetes.

But nevertheless, herbal remedies can bring blessed relief without having to resort to pain killers; some studies have also shown a benefit in preventing cancer cell growth.

There isn’t enough information to know if devil’s claw is effective for the other conditions people use it for, including: upset stomach, loss of appetite, high cholesterol, gout, muscle pain, skin injuries and conditions, and many others.

Do not use this product if you are pregnant. Because of the risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this product is not recommended without consulting a doctor first.
