Discovered in 1922 and isolated in 1936, the discoverers named it tocopherol. It later became popularly known as vitamin E with countless health benefits.
There are many health benefits of consuming foods rich in vitamin E, a fat soluble nutrient and acts as an antioxidant in the body, which protects the cells from damage caused by free radicals. People are normally exposed to free radicals within the environment especially from air pollution, cigarette smoke and from the ultraviolet rays from the sun.

Apart from the foods listed below, vitamin E is also an excellent source in foods like asparagus, cayenne peppers, cranberries, raspberries, carrots, tomatoes, papaya and kale. If these are not consumed in your daily diet, it can cause deficiencies although it is very rare.
