Health Benefits Of Consuming Cucumbers (Cucumis Sativus)‏

Cucumber, a widely cultivated climbing or sprawling annual plant in the gourd family Cucuribitaceae (family of herbaceous vines).

A cylindrical fruit that has a green rind and crisp white flesh used mostly in culinary vegetables with petiolated (stalk attaching the leaf blade to the stem) leaves rounded at both ends.

Cucumber has always been known for its numerous health benefits and can be found in three main varieties, namely, burpless, slicing and prickling and is normally eaten raw in salads or by itself even as it can also be cooked or is being used in other ways daily which will be mentioned later in the article.


Originated in Nepal, cucumber is about ninety (90%) percent water and have been around for thousands of years. It was used by the Romans to treat vision problems, scorpion bites and scare mice away.
